The Leather I Use
I only use Italian leather for the reason it is simply the best in the world. Italian leather is famous for it. Animals are produced longer before being finished for many products. The older hides are better quality because they are more mature and harder wearing. The Italian tanneries are famous for their special procedure in making the worlds most luxurious leather. Costing slightly more but the quality speaks for itself. After owning a few products made from Italian leather, you will never go back to anything that isn't Italian.
I buy in three colors of bridle leather, Black, Chocolate and Australian Nut. Bridle leather ranges from 3.2 - 4.1mm thick. It is beautiful to work with and if looked after will last a life time! I personally use coconut oil to soften all my products before they leave my workshop. People cannot believe how soft it becomes. I can only describe it as butter soft. I once had an older dressage saddle made from Italian leather and after 25 years it was still stunning!! It could sit in the tackroom for months and after a quick clean it was back to its butter soft and deep glow. This is what made me source and investigate Italian leather and procedures.

I use Italian soft leather for padding and for the soft rolled leather products. This leather is often known as Nappa leather, ranging from
0.4 - 1.2mm thick. This comes in many different colours and I have many in stock, several shades of brown, black, charcoal, reds, greens, blues, pinks, purples and occasionally yellows and metallic colours on request. Some items like the tracking leads which needs to be very long, some even up to 40 feet require me to buy in jumbo hides which sometimes can take a week or two longer.
